As I was filling out my fall family calendar this week, I had a couple of realizations. The first was that I’ll be traveling more than usual since I became a dad. The second was that the noise-cancelling headphones I bring on flights have seen better days. I was going to grab a pair of Bose QuietComforts — in my opinion, they’re the best headphones available if you’re looking for superior noise-cancellation as well as long-flight comfort. But then I saw this Amazon deal — and $30 for a highly-rated pair of headphones from a known brand like Soundcore was something I couldn’t pass up.

Why are these a good deal? 💰

Whether you use them on a plane, train or just working from home, noise-canceling headphones are worth their weight in gold. Luckily, you don’t have to break the bank to get incredible audio quality, a long battery life and a sleek, ergonomic design as part of the package. This is the lowest price these cans have ever been, by quite a margin (the previous low price was $38). That’s a 50% discount off of MSRP.

Why do I need this? 🤔

With up to 60 hours of playback, you can go for days (and then some) without being connected to an outlet. And if you need a quick juice-up in a pinch, just plug them in for five minutes and get up to four hours of listening pleasure.

They also come with a travel pouch, charging cable and an aux cable, a must if you enjoy in-flight entertainment like I do (want to go completely cableless while flying? Check out this Bluetooth adapter).

I also have to say that these wireless headphones look fantastic. They’re sleek but not overly designed, sharp yet understated. Their matte black finish just seals the deal, though I ended up snagging them in blue, a worthy $5 upgrade in my opinion.

Comfy + noise-canceling + on sale = no-brainer. (Amazon)

What reviewers say 💬

People can’t get enough of these headphones — they’ve earned a five-star rating from over 65,000 reviewers, and more than 10,000 have been bought in the past month.

Pros 👍

This intrepid customer reported: “I was on my way from LA to Boston on a United flight. [These were] so nice and quiet, no wind noise, no jet engine noise, just the music I wanted to hear. They hooked up to Bluetooth first try and lasted the entire flight. Sound is good, fit over my ears perfectly and controls operated great. They also fold up and fit nicely into the sack that came with the unit, along with a charging cord. No complaints from me. Very nice sound too. No exterior noise! I will buy a set for my wife!”

“I was looking for good noise-cancelling headphones and these blew me away!!” exclaimed another surprised, happy customer. “I’ve gone through many headphones like AirPods, Samsung buds, wired headphones and other wireless headphones, and none of them compare to these. They’re easy to use, the blue is perfect and super easy to pair. I also use them to talk on the phone [with] no issues at all. Music sounds amazing. You can also play with the noise-cancelling feature so you can still hear what’s going on around you.”

Worried about these headphones not lasting? These come with an 18-month warranty, which should put you at ease like it did this perfect scorer. “Any time any Anker product is purchased via Amazon, the warranty is immediately activated. You don’t need to call Anker, send anything in, go online — nothing. The warranty starts as soon as your purchase is made. The warranty covers 18 months of product life.”

Cons 👎

If you’re looking for headphones for larger ears, keep looking, cautioned this four-star customer. “These are definitely not ‘over-ear’. Unless you have very tiny ears. My ears are pretty average (woman), and the top of the cups sit directly ON my ears … the inner part of the headphone speaker rests against my ears. It’s not a deal breaker per se, not for the price point, but I’d love the ear cups to be larger and keep the headphones farther away.”

Let’s be honest, a pair of $30 headphones isn’t really going to compete with the best of the best that Sony, Bose and Apple have to offer. While these do offer noise-cancelling and transparency mode, there will be a bit of quality loss compared to the bigger brands (much) higher-priced offerings. “While the sound quality is okay, the frequency response completely changes when going through the different modes. You seem to lose bass when you are in noise cancellation mode. The transparency mode is not great at all. It’s OK if you just need to hear what’s going on around you, but it definitely doesn’t feel like you’re in the space.”
